HALLADALE – BLACKWATCH GAS PIPELINE FOR ORIGIN ENERGY
Project Overview
Construction of 33-kilometre Halladale/Speculant pipeline, connecting the well site to the Otway Gas Plant.
The objective of the Origin-operated Halladale/Speculant project in the Otway Basin, was to enable the facility to boost production at the Otway Gas Plant by up to 80TJ/day.
Project Objective, Challenges Faced and Outcome
The project called for the construction of the new 33-kilometer Halladale/Speculant pipeline, connecting the well site to the Otway Gas Plant.
The connection of the Otway Gas Plant had to comply with strict environmental & safety regulations to minimise the impact & risk on the area.
The extreme weather conditions proved a challenge due to the wet ground & extremely cold temperatures. The pipeline, running through private rural properties & dairy farms, creek crossings& sensitive environments meant complying with weed & feed environmental guidelines to prevent cross contamination.
MCC were faced with different terrains to which planning was critical. Safety & procedures associated with the tie-in to the Otway Gas Plant were paramount.
